The tray inside the console is a pain to get out especially if you have somewhat heavy stuff in it. (I keep a small pair of binoculars, a leatherman multitool and three film containers of quarters in mine) You also risk spilling the stuff too. So I thought of doing this....

Basically a U-bolt used as a handle for lifting the tray out.

edit: a wide zip tie could probably work as well.
Finally did it.

Only problem I ran into was putting the nuts on underneath. There is a wedge shape in the tray's underside that wont let the nuts go very far so I took some makeshift tube-spacers (made from the tube of a ball-point pen) and pushed them on the bolt ends and pushed them in really hard and put the nuts on top to provide tension. Very half-assed I know. I am going to replace them with metal tubes as soon as I can scrounge some.

Works great. As you can see I keep some heavy stuff on the tray. Now I can lift the tray out very easily to get to stuff deeper inside my console.

edit:ignore the image below. I cant figure out how to remove it.

I did the same thing while taking doors off. A gust of wind blew the door open and the mirror dented the cowl. I just bought a couple in expensive cowl covers. Problem solved, sort of..

Probably my favourite cheap mod is a bit of elastic around the centre console lid. Great for holding down maps, snacks, glasses, camera etc etc
How were you able to get the cuts around the doors so perfect. Did the people you bought the material cut them for you? Are those stickers on there?

You can buy them pre cut to your door rig. Here is one site I found them on. I think they look pretty slick but I have so many other things on my "list" that I doubt I'll ever buy them.

Doing your own switch panel instead of buying the rugged ridge one. Starting off with one $20 plasma glow switch for now.
