At the jeep jamboree in Bradford Pennsylvania, they had big bundles of long heavy zip ties for the taking in the area where you got to choose trails

I used plasti-dip. No sanding involved. Just clean it, tape it, put about 5-7 coats of plasti-dip on. Make sure to use a razor to trim at the tape line because you might peel plasti-dip off when taking tape off.

Ya plasti dip sticks good, just not the vht to them

That's probably why. You did it correctly, but from what I understand. Does not work on 12 and up. Could be wrong though.
