When you buy an outdoor extension cord, it has three 16 gauge wires built in (positive, negative, ground). You cut the ends off of the cord and splice the wires into the controller box of your winch and wire to a rocker for hard wired winch controls. The extension cord saves the hassle of running 3 separate leads from the winch and is used as a wiring harness. I read on google that someone else did the same and I thought it was a great idea bc I'm so OCD.

I though it was the simplest/brightest thing ever when I saw that. I would have never thought to do that. It's also cheaper as well.

PS: sounds like an excuse for a winch

Wrte up be great. Doesn't it take 6 wires to control a winch? I plan on installing some controls in the cab, so your idea may come in real handy.
