Another issue with maglites are that their bulbs will burn out or can break if you drop the light. Of course, you can upgrade to an LED but why polish a turd?

Meh My Polished turd 4 D cell Maglight that I converted to LED 2 years ago has seen its wicked share of rough play and still works fine. Fallen from attic down the ladder , off the Dodge's hitch and nothing but driveway / Left under hood of said dodge using body (Tube) as a cheater bar for a wrench. And lastly last winter left it on in the Jeep for what had to be a week and that light was still going! But as far as beam pattern yes Turd is correct

I feel the need to be a devils advocate right now so to all these guys that swear by the LED flashlights: my 4D maglight has much better range then any LED I've ever seen hands down. It may not last as long, it may be heavy as crap but I can spot out 50+ yards with it. And it's a fraction of the cost of the "good" LED lights. Now that being said, LED is better for close range (10') and wide angles so I do keep a couple handy but when I want some serious light I'll grab my mag.
