I'll second this - 5.13s with 35" tires, with an auto trans, is a near-perfect combo. If you have a 6-spd, go higher, like 4.88s for 35"s.

My math shows that if the original tires are say 31.5" then going to a tire that is 35" would be 11% larger.

so 3.73 + 11% = 4.14
4.10 + 11% = 4.55

so why would a person with a 33" or 34" tire want to go 4.88 or higher???
I'm so confused

I could use help here, too. If you're driving a 6 speed manual, is it as important to get exactly the right gear ratio? Wouldn't getting gears "close enough" do the job because you control the shift point?

The other reason to stay at 4.56 was the advice I received that the 4.88 pinion for the D30 was getting really small and could be a problem. I guess we have plenty of folks running these. I did not need to.

I agree with you.
Just want to say that some Jeepers like slow (on road) and powerfull ratio. There is no scientific reason. It's a Jeep thing

Well I ordered my 4.56s today! Still looking for the best place around here to install them tho.
