Default Log arm v short arm or suspension lift

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?

Besides a couple thousand dollars. I can't get a straight answer through looking it up. Someone put this in lamens terms.

Long arms can be a smoother ride and don't suffer axle movement like a short arm does if properly set up.

but as dirt said can be better on and offroad IF they are set up properly.

If you don't understand the differences I highly doubt you need a long arm. Proper set up is the key to any suspension.
