Yeah, and if you do manual hubs, you have a "selectable" locker again.



Figure 2 Aussies can be less than 1 ARB, OX or Detroit.

after reading and looking at different websites, i had a thought to throw out there....

ARB locker + compressor = ~$1000.00 - $1100.00 plus install
donno maybe about $1400.00 ish??

buying a Mopar Dana 44 front (already comes with a locker) is about
$1600.00 ish shipped. pretty simple swap. then just rig a switch.
donno maybe $15-$20 at autozone.

with the D44, you got a locker and a stronger axle

I have the same issue with putting a lunch box locker in the rear. The question is... does the ESP slow one wheel below the driveline speed. In an open diff, ESP can handle this. In a locked diff... it may present a problem. But again... that is only if the ESP attemps to slow a wheel below driveline speed.

There seemed to be some question about the full cost break down on that front D44 set-up...as some of the parts were not included it seemed...at least for some people who tried that route.

It might have been a dealer to dealer discrepancy...but, I would ABSOLUTELY make sure I had all the parts I needed before committing to an axle swap.

ESP shouldn't be effected. Both axles turn at the same speed, except when cornering, the outer wheel speeds up. When people do the locker mod on a rubi that allow them to lock the locker without being in 4 lo, it doesn't effect esp, so why would a lunch box locker????

I agree that it shouldn't cause a problem.

There aren't currently any "lunch-box" lockers available for our 44's due to the change in pinion gears/shaft.

I got mine for $1400. It was the complete axle assembly. The only thing I had to do was wire it up.

I went with the Eaton E-Locker for the rear and an aussie locker for the front. When I save up enough cash, I plan to swap out my front axle for a D44 and give my front locker to my son. they are my xmas gift this year.
