Default Locker on front axle and limited slip on rear axle

Anybody run a locker up front and a limited slip/ True Trac on the rear? I am not going to be rock crawling, just "average" off roading and wondering if a locker on both axles is really necessary or if I put that $$$$ elsewhere.

I would have done it the other way around.

Just out of curiosity why? Would there be more of a benefit doing it that way?

I myself do not have that setup but i do not see a problem with that i mean with a some sort of lunch box locker up front. I have the ruby locker in the rear of my jeep and that is what i will do some day.but jeep does very well with the locker in the rear.

I run true Tracs front and rear and I'm happy with it for the wheeling I do here in TN, but I have a brother that's running a Detroit locker up front and true trac rear and he seems very happy with it. I considered going that route but didn't want to deal with a front auto locker in the snow and ice we sometimes get here and just plain didn't want to spend the money on a selectable to go in the D30. Brothers down by Galveston TX so icy conditions really don't come into play for him

Do it once, if you can.

Ideal would be selectable lockers front and rear. Definately a selectable up front if it is a daily driver and you want a full locker in the front. Otherwise, truetracks work really well.

I ran them in my old ZJ and if I romped on it in slick conditions, it would crab walk on me.

Sent from some string and a few tin cans.

That's the route I'm debating on going. It would be the least expensive.

The guys who just won KOH run ARB's rear and Detroit's up front on all their rigs. The limited slip already came on my 12' Sahara so I'm leaving that for now and will run either the Detroit or another LS up front.

Or I might just say screw it and get the ARB locker for the front, gusset and sleeve, maybe add some beefier front axles since I already have on-board air.

I've also seen several posts about guys running into issues running auto lockers on the later JK's. Problems with the ECU going into limp mode so depending on the year of your Wrangler, also something to consider which is why I might just have to go with the ARB or selectable up front.

If I had to do it from stock I would go the route you are looking into. The locker up front will help alot, even if you are rock crawling. I would never put a detroit in the rear, but up front it's an awesome locker. When out wheeling you need to be able to turn off the rear sometimes on tight turns or just to hold your line that you can't do with a detroit, it just trys to push you straight ahead even when your tires are turned. Up front it works great because it's tough and you always have control because of being able to turn the tires. I have ARB's front and rear, but if I was to do it again I would not hesitate puting in a detroit front, ARB rear. I think you are on the right track, plus the true trac rear you have does an ok job until you can buy a selectable locker for back there. Just my $.02

I asked myself the same question"if it was worth it" but I came to realize that one of these days I will need them when I'm in the woods an deep in mud, it's worth the money! I got the true trac in the front and Detroit in the back.

A fellow I know is running the True Track in his rear diff, and the selectable Ox locker in the front.

He gets the benefit of a good limited slip all the time, and still has that locker avail whenever he wants, to pull his Jeep through the tough stuff. We get a lot of snow here in the Cascades, so maybe that influenced his decision. He's very happy with the setup, though I've heard he's considering going to another Ox Locker for the rear diff now...

Wouldn't surprise me - he's done about everything else to that Jeep of his!
