This...
and this.
I see this used most often in an ULTRA4/hardcore application but when it works it is AWESOME! As mentioned earlier. 95% (more like (99%) will never use this option.
Yes suck down winches have limited use but for the times that you need them, they are priceless. Imagine this, you are climbing a waterfall. Front tires make contact and you start going vertical, you get to a certain point the front end unloads and the front comes over the top and you tumble. This is what the suck down winch is for. With the suck down winch, your front tires make contact, you start to climb and then suck down the front. Continue the climb, crest the top, unload the front and complete the climb. Limited use yes. But very useful for certain instances.

Maybe you guys all missed the real purpose of the suck down winch. Obviously it is to make the jeep dance!! Maybe you thought it helped out on the waterfall or in some ultra4 race. I think the jeep was dancing its way through the trail

wow. lots of members making themselves look stupid as hell in this thread. i guess u all dont know as much as u think u do about wheeling. this works well for steep climbs, especially with the shorter wheel base 2 doors. coilovers are known for unloading, and if u pay attention to the video the rig has coilovers.

I think for the most part, we were bein facetious if I may say. But if I were to do this mod, you're darn straight I'd be making my jeep dance to mambo #5! Oh man, I thought I was the only one who noticed the Coilovers. Doh!

u may have been, but it is obvious no one knew what this is really for. for the record, I would make mine dance too.

I've seen a few situations where a Jeep is trying to come over a steep hill but the front suspension is completely unloaded and the front tires just aren't getting enough traction. A suck down winch would help tremendously in this situation. Yes, it can have an affect on your break over angle, but you don't have to suck the suspension all the way down. Although I'd only use it once or twice a year, I'd love one of these on my rig!
