Question Will 35's & D30 will be an issue?

When the time comes I plan on a 2.5" or 3" lift with 35's.

So it seems that the common upgraded tire size with a lift is 35". A lot of "X" & Sahara JK owners have 35's already or plan on it. Although it may be a bit early to tell if it will be a problem with the Dana 30, I was curious of what people thought about it being a potential issue. Either they don't see it being a problem, don't care or plan on upgrading. Obviously Rubicon owners are safe which would basically be my deciding factor for going from getting an X or Sahara to Rubicon.

Just a side note, when I had 33" on my YJ it was advised not go any larger a tire size without a stronger axle, but I am aware that the new D30's are built stronger and beefier on the JK's than the YJ or TJ.

Still no matter what I choose, it would be nice to know what others think of the D30 & 35's.

no problem if you're not too hard on it....

my xj has had 35's on it for 3 years and multiple offroad trips and only 1 broken u-joint (my fault i jumped a small hill, got about 1 foot of air)

jk will get 35's too

Your D30 will handle 35's without a problem. I ran them on my TJ and wheeled the crap out of it and never had one axle problem.

I have 35" MTR's on my TJ with a Turdy and I haven't had any probs. I do carry spare shafts, 4 spare u-joints, complete steering setup, and a carrier with a lockrite. Better safe than stuck!!

I haven't heard about any upgrades on the new 30 and 35. I would hope that they would have made it a little beefier being that the axle is a bit wider. Are they still 27 spline?

Yeah... 27 spline Dana 30 & 35. 30 spline D44 available to the X & Sahara and 32 spline on the Rubicon 44's.

I know that the D30 has a larger ring gear & bearings than previous 30's.
