Lifted JK short wife need step bar suggestions
#22
I saw a thread about someone who installed an automatic step that retracted when the door closed (like on a caddy). It looked great, gave them the step they needed and when it was retracted it didn't mess with their ground clearance. Try searching it, I don't remember the title right now.

If you slide on it, that will be the end of $1200 ...

Resurrecting this thread... I had to replace my Sahara style plastic steps after then were crushed with Teraflex Rock Rails. One of the reasons I chose them is my wife is fanatical about having a flat step that she won't slip on. Well 3 months after installing the TF rock rails they have done a great job protecting the Jeep but the "step" area is nearly as high as the door sill and it's too tall for her to step on. She's been complaining since I got them so I'm looking for removable steps that work with the TF rock rail/sliders that will offer a lower step height.
I emailed Teraflex and as always they were great and responded quickly but due to the way the TF Sliders wrap around the pinch seam and under the body there is no where to mount a traditional lower step. They suggested "EZ-STEP" by Valco but I can't find any pictures or posts of someone installing these.
My concern is that the step won't protrude out beyond the TF sliders so she won't be able to see it to step on it when getting out. They are a little pricey so I'd like to see some pics to determine how far out they extend.
Does anyone have a picture of them installed from the front or be able to comment whether they work for a paranoid, short passenger who wants to see where they are stepping?

I once saw a guy that made a stirrup that hooked over the sill and was low enough his wife could use it as a step, then she grabbed it and placed it on the floor at her feet. Very slick and easy to make from chain, some leather and some hooks.

Very smooth action, but they will be awfully pricey
My Jeep has not been home yet after getting the 37's...kind of worried about my wife having an issue with the new height

But really, what if she needs to drive the Jeep and your not there?
I've gotta pickup my mom for thanksgiving and in the past I only had 33's and a small lift, and then I brought a small folding step
Now I've got 37's and a few more inches of elevation...I plan on bringing an apple box, the hand made plywood ones used in film production
