Question Lift and Tires

Hello I am new to this forum it was suggested to me by one of my club members from the U4x4C located in Utah. Here is my delima.....I currently own a 2007 4 door JK (Sahara) it has D30 front and D44 Rear with 4:10 Ratio. I want to install a 4" lift and 35 inch tires I have been told both pos and neg on what I need to do. anyways all of the replies I received on our club site is from non JK owners so here I am.

1 will I have to re-gear?
2 does anyone know the cost of re-gearing?
3 No I do not want to go 33's
4 I spend more time off road than a DD
5 I need clearance big time
6 I am not planning on 5 trails I am not that extreme YET! only 3.5 occasional 4s
7 Leave it to a woman to ask so many questions

You are in the same place I am, except I have invested way too much time researching what I am going to do. I also have a Sahara same axles and ratio you do. Full Traction Ultimate lifts (3") get great reviews here, but I am going to try something a little different, the new Currie Rock Jock suspension, which is roughly 5" in front and 3" in the rear to level the Jeep out. I am also going to install a 1" spacer in the rear on top of Curries lift.

1. You should regear to get your power back
2. Anywhere from $1100 to $1400, including parts (don't pay more)
3. Good, go with 35's or 37's, do it right the first time
4. Again, do it right the first time
5. Full traction 3" or Currie 5" and 37's
6. Me neither
7. We all have questions, well at least I do!

Here is a photo of two Jeeps together. The one on the left is SDMF's with the new Currie lift and 35's, but sounds like he may have 37's soon (He's got the space). The one on the right is WOL's with the Full Traction 3" on 35's. It is a nice comparison between the two, but keep in mind the two door is lighter (less doors and no aftermarket bumpers or winch) so it wil sit a little higher, even if it had the same Full Traction lift. These guys both wheel pretty hard and both rigs are very capable....

BTW....Welcome! This is a very active forum with tons of great info.

1 will I have to re-gear? - Yes, if you want your power back... w/an auto go w/5.13's you will be VERY glad you did.

2 does anyone know the cost of re-gearing? - Figure $600-$700 for gears and another $800-$900 to install.

3 No I do not want to go 33's - Good choice

4 I spend more time off road than a DD - I can only speak to 35's... Great offroad and and serves me well as a DD (assuming you regear).

5 I need clearance big time - 3"-4" should do it... I'm running a 3" w/a 1" BL and it works out fine.

6 I am not planning on 5 trails I am not that extreme YET! only 3.5 occasional 4s - 35's should be fine... you can always go bigger though

7 Leave it to a woman to ask so many questions

EDIT: Oh yeah, and welcome to the forum!

Yep... in that case, I'd say go w/4.88's Many happy people w/manuals and 4.88's. That will give you a little better pick up than stock... which will be good.
