Don't be fooled into thinking that you have to spend a ton of money to go off road and have fun. I'd recommend good skids, sliders, and a winch first, then have at it.

To the op, springs are better. I have the TF spring leveling kit with 35" BFG. I trimmed my fenders and only rub the passenger rear inner pinch seam in the wheel well at full flex.
