2. Also look at what part of the country (Right to Work states or forced union labor states) the lifts are manufactured. Union labor cost more, not meaning to spark a debate here but we know it is fact.
In my search for a lift, yet to be picked, I don't want the cheapest thing that I can find, I want a quality lift that will last a long time as I plan to keep my Jeep a long time. I don't care where it's made or what color it's painted, I want quality lift with springs that won't sag in six months.
Forced union labor! Lol. If you don't want to be "forced" into working for higher union wages and benefits don't apply for a union job. You have the "Right to Work" for less at a nonunion position like McDonalds or maybe your local gas station.

In short - yes.

There is more to it than springs and steel. Engineering, quality control, attention to detail all make the difference.

Do you specifically know the answer or just guessing? Basically, you're saying Rough Country has none of the above, even though a lot of people are happy with their lifts.

Don't forget its business too. You are paying for marketing, staff, utilities, insurance, etc... They sponsor forums, events, give aways, etc...
Free market says, if you don't like it, then don't buy it.

I bet your the same guy that uses the " search button" comment regularly.
I think the op had a very legitimate and interesting topic that has many angles.
Look Im not being negative or passing judgement on anyone. But lets not say all 2.5 inch spring lift kits are the same so they all should be $300 bucks because all they really do is order springs out of a JCWhitney catalog and add some doo dad brackets to them. Because there is a difference in the quality of the spring, type of materials, quality of the shocks or brackets used, thickness of tubing used, and to me probably most importantly is the quality of the finishes they use to prevent rust.

As an example I purchased front and rear bumpers recently from Poison Spyder at the same time my friend purchased front and rear bumpers from Rugged Ridge. From a distance they look similar. Up close the quality of the welds and materials used are not even close. Mine also weight significantly more. After I got my bumpers in the mail I then had to take them to get powder coated with a three stage primer/coating so they wouldnt rust which also was not cheap. My friend saved almost $500 bucks over my setup but after three months of use so far mine look like brand new, his look like they are about to fall off his jeep . All of his welds are rusted through the coating already and any small scratches have rusted through and are now starting to peel. So buy what you like for your jeep just dont try to say all lifts are the same, or all bumpers are the same, or all tires are the same so should all be the same price, because that is not the case.

I've help install a few different lifts lately the past 6 months from different manufactures and actually talked to each company as well for input.
Installed 2.5 rough country, 4 inch rough country, 2 inch AEV BB, 3.5 AEV coil lift, 3.5 AEV springs with 8 teraflex control arms, 3 inch Teraflex to name a few.

...and yet I say again: You don't always get what you pay for, but if you don't pay for it, you surely won't get it!

So what's the difference between Rough Country and Teraflex similar kits? Why not just directly answer this question? I can see the price is much different. But what else?
