Default Lift kits with 15" wheels

Hello, I just ordered some 15" wheels and 35's from DTD and they have verified fitment. I can't find any information for lifts kits that verify fitment with a 15" wheel setup. I see others running this wheel setup, are there certain kits I need to look at or things to stay away from, like a high steer kit. Any information would be appreciated, I did not have any luck with the search option.

Most people will go with a 17" wheel as it allows for upgraded brakes and steering components. 15" wheels do not offer the clearances to accommodate these upgrades. Lift kits are typically only suspension components and really don't have anything to do with the size of the wheel itself. Likely why you don't find much searching for fitment of the wheel with a lift kit. Fitment with the lift is more related to fitting tires which are independent of the wheel size.

You will find notes on lifts concerning rim backspacing (how far in/out of the wheel well the rim and tire move), not about rim sizing like 15" vs 17". Stock backspacing is around 6.25", most lifts will recommend going down to around 4.50 backspace with a 35x12.50 tire. (so the tires are moved out 6.25 - 4.50 = 1.75" inches further than stock. Yours have lower backspace, so the rims are even further out. No backspace issues...)

As noted, for things like brakes and steering components, you will see recommendations for rim size, as many require at least 17" for clearance.

Yep, as stated above, it's about brakes and steering components, not lift components.

You said you already ordered the wheels, so it is what it is, but keep in mind that the light duty factory steering components found on our JKs (rubicon or otherwise) don't hold up well to the weight and forces associated with larger (35in+) tires, and heavy duty aftermarket steering won't fit anything smaller than 17in wheel. So, with a 15in wheel you are kind of stuck replacing worn parts with the same parts over again, knowing that they likely won't last very long before needing to be replaced again.

It's not all doom and gloom- you can get better brakes and heavy duty components, you're just limited. I had 15's for a while before stumbling into a dream set of wheels. I think it's synergy that has steering options for 15's.

High steer/draglink flip is about lift height, not brand name. So, how tall are you thinking? With flat flares or trimmed stock flares, 2.5" is popular. The taller you go past that, the probability of wanting/needing more components goes up. 3.5" or so is where you want to think about draglink flip/high steer, along with having an idea of what you want to do if/when the front the driveshaft spits its grease. Do you have a budget in mind?

Thanks everyone, I called into DTD and they changed out my order and are now shipping out some 17" lonestar wheels and Yohohama m/t g003 35's. I still have not ordered a lift yet, just trying to decide on which way to go. But with having the 17" wheel it will not limit me on upgrading components, Thanks again for everyone's help.

that was nice they let you revise your order. I think you'll be happier in the long run. Happy building.
