Lift install problems to be aware of?
Hello all! I'm new to the forum and I'm about to finally lift my JK. Are there any particular issues I should be aware of when installing a TeraFlex 2.5" lift? Thanks for any assistance.

Thanks for the info. I haven't installed a lift in about 15 years so I'm sure it will be interesting. I'll post some pics when I'm done. Look out Auto Hobby Shop, hear I come!

Open the faq's stickied to the top of this modified area and browse, lots of good info.
If you get the coils, you are likely to get more than 2.5".
When you lift, the caster gets lower, which causes flighty steering/handling. Look in to some form of caster correction. (check the FAQ's for more info)
When you lift, the axles shift to one side. That kit should come with a rear trackbar bracket, but consider a bracket or new adjustable for the front.
It comes with new rear links, be sure to move the stock rear links to the front. (flexing with short links causes lots of good pictures for us to look at...)
Your brake lines may be stretched when flexed. If so, add brackets or new longer lines. (the kit may come with brackets?)
Keep an eye on the joints at the tcase ends of both driveshafts. The new steeper angles from the lift will cause those boots to pinch and eventually wear through and start spitting grease. They are not repairable. (there are a lot of variables involved, just a heads up to keep an eye on them...)
And as the others mentioned, there are plenty of write-ups to look through. Any of them will work, as the steps are pretty much all the same. (there is an index stickied to the top of the write-ups area)

I'm also thinking of this lift kit. How "bad" is the shift in caster and the body shift? $500 for a coil lift kit, but then adding adj. lower control arms plus the adj track bar runs up the initial cost fast. Is it better to wait and install all items at the same time rather than just the lift?

I have the same kit in my garage, will be starting the install today as well.
I did add the JKS adj front Track bar, but it truly isn't needed to install this lift.
Btw, I have installed the OME setup on last JK.
