It's a sway bar link. How are you going to have problems mounting them outboard with the bolts facing in? Please do enlighten me. Looks like you have less clearance running them inboard; but hey, you said it yourself...don't need to articulate the suspension at the mall anyways.
Here you go, go and tell them that their sway bar link bolts weren't hitting the frame as shown in the pics each of them posted.

Those bolts are just too long.

I mounted mine as others have, only bought better fitting bolts to avoid all the extra threads poking out.

Sawzall always works too.
