License Plate Problem
#11
I drilled a couple of holes for mine and mounted it up high so as not to drag it over rocks or anything. I would have gone with MagLight clips on the fairlead except that I have a aluminum fairlead because of the synthetic line.

I am going with this one:
At $20 you cant miss....
You can leave it in the seat next to you and say "oops I have it right here next to me - I just got through offroading and it fell off, have not had time to get home and fix it and didnt want to lose it"
or... (for some) "I just left the mall/wal-mart/hannamontana concert/etc... and was scared that someone would steal it"

In Connecticut it is required that you have a license plate on the front and the back of your vehicle. I am getting the new Rugged Ridge Modular XHD Front bumper with the Non-winch mount. The problem is that there is no mount for a license plate. Has anyone had experience with drilling in a license plate or another way of making it legal. (pics if you got them)
Thanks
Thanks
Zipp Ties............Nuff said!!!!!!!!!

Utah has a front plate law... my wife has not installed it on her Mazda3 since getting it in 2007, never been a problem.
I have my Jeep for two days, dealer advertisment thing where the front plate would go, I get pulled over for not having a front plate. I explain that it's brand new and I have the temp tag on the rear. He still gives me crap over it, tells me I need to remove the dealer ad plate until I get the Utah plates in... I attribute that to my weird luck! I've seen people drive in Utah without any plates, or even headlights for that matter.
Flash forward to last week, I install the XHD as well and love how it looks without the front plate... but my wife tells me I need to find a place to put the front plate... so I wire it to the winch holes until I get the fairlead mount (after I get a winch.)
So for now I have the front plate here...
I'm thinking that I'll take it off and keep it in the front seat, if I get pulled over I'll explain that I'm waiting for the fairlead mount to arrive and it's on backorder.

Oh, one more thing... be careful with zip ties, they can get brittle and can break. You'll be driving along and your plate can fly off. Happened to me, only it was a Christmas Wreath.

I would check the fine for the violation. It's illegal here in Colorado to not have a front plate. I am a police officer, i have no front plate on my Jeep, have not since new and have never been pulled over (with the JK).
With that said, i know the violation. It's $15 bucks and considered a non-moving violation, so your insurance rates will not suffer with a ticket.
I was stopped once in my old TJ by the state patrol. I got a lecture from this nice lady, then a warning. Most cops will not write for that if you are polite and honest. If you are an a-hole, it pleases us to write you a ticket. Just be nice. If you get a ticket in Colorado, it's 15 bucks and 0 points, who cares.
Some laws are simply stupid. That's one of them. I don't enforce it, never would and don't care if i get a ticket for it.
check your state law would be my advice. Do what you are comfortable with.
