Default license plate

quick question....i am about to buy some flat fenders and know that it is going to look funny to keep the license plate where it is. Is it illegal to relocate the license plate under the spare tire on the after market bumper. I have a swing out carrier, and there is room to put it under the tire, i was just wondering if this was legal in the state of Virginia.

I would think that as long as it is visible and lighted at night you should be fine. Every other vehicle has the license plate in the center of the rear bumper anyways...

^ I agree. Make sure it is lighted or you could get pulled over in any state.

yeah, i agree with the others. I think you have to have a light shining on the plate at night.

try contacting your local State Police barracks. They will be able able to provide first hand knowlege and vehicle code explanations. get the name of the officer that you talk too, that way if you are questioned by some one, you wont tell him....well the guys on the internet said it is ok so i dont see the problem..... but instead you could reply....I spoke to officer so-and-so he explained the vehicle codes and told me it is allowed.

As long as it is visible to law enforcement. Some states require a license plate lamp also.

Hey, since I happen to have this part setting on my work bench, let me answer what may be your next question: Mopar part # 55397112AA will cover up the holes left by the missing license plate bracket.
