I kept both of my inners, most people chunk the rear but I like the idea of it being there..
As for the markers, they are required by law in every state. With that being said, most states do not enforce it... I left my connected and screwed it into the inner fender, that lasted 2 days.. I flexed my front and my market lens came shooting out in front of my jeep (caught on the GoPro too).. Not sure what year you have, but the '12's have a plug about 12 inches up the tail.. LED rock lights would be cool so I saved the plug off of my markers when I removed them.. I figured I could use some heavy duty Velcro on LED's and stick them on my inners when I need them and just plug them in.. I know, an awesome idea....:-)
Here is a really crappy pic of where I mounted my marker light, after I ripped the lens off..

Sorry also forgot to ask, but yes.. Any details would be a great help. The write ups I have seen are very vague with the rears and only focus on fronts... And lastly I have also heard of people using the leftover plastics from the bumpers and making simple caps that get epoxy'd on.. The reason I ask is I'm not much of a fan of the boxed look on the ends but running open looks just a bit incomplete... Do you know anyone that has attempted this before and if it worked out
