Lessons Learned and Veteran Knowledge
Hey, just got our first Jeep. We purchased a 2013 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon (2dr). We are very excited and want to personalize it. WE have a 4 Wheel Parts just a few miles down the road. We want to learn from you, help us get started in being "Jeep Poor"..
The first upgrades we want to make (and need suggestions) are:
1. How much can we sell our Rubicon Wheels and Tires for and where is the best place to list them? Please note they have less than 500 miles on them.
2. We are looking for a lift kit. What do you recommend for a daily driver with some time on the trail?
3. What should we go with for wheels and tires? We live in Texas and just do some basic off roaring. We do spend a good amount of time on the highway.
4. What about exhaust?
5. Fender Flares?
6. Soft Top Choices? We have a hard top now.
If we have $4k to $5k to spend, what is the best way to accomplish the above 5 items. Help us learn from your past experience and get us started. Thanks everyone!!!

5k Sounds like a good starter budget. I would recommend getting 35's they will make the Jeep more capable. A good 2.5" to 3.5" lift would be a good start. There are many to choose from. As for the wheels you can get spacers for the stock wheels or get a nice set of 17" wheels that are 8" to 9" wide and 4.5" of back space. Also a Teraflex hinge carrier. For the spare. And please get rid of that ugly OEM front bumper. Get a winch bumper and you can add a winch down the road.
That right there should be around 5k. The rest will have to come later.

The wheels and tires would sell on the forum or e-bay pretty quick.
As for the lift we recommend something with adjustable control arms at a minimum. It also depends what size tire you plan on running. If you are planning on doing flat flares and 35's with minimal trail use you could get away with no lift at all.
As for the wheels you really need to pick out something that you enjoy to look at. You don't want to build up your rig and hate the way it looks.
With the exhaust again you need to like the sound of it. We run the MBRP OffRoad Exhaust which has a nice sound to it IMO.
Fender flares and soft tops are other esthetic items so you need to look at lots of pictures and pick out what makes you happy.
If you would like any questions on anything feel free to PM us.

I ran my Rubi with stock tires and a 1 3/4 daystar budget boost for 5 years on the stock tires.
I ran Moab, trails in Colorado and never had a problem.
Before you start to mod your jeep I suggest that you spend time learning what you have first. The Rubi can to a lot straight out of the box so I would not rush to mods.
The only critical mod would be an Evap Canister Skid plate.
Now after the origional tires wore our I am running 33's on the stock rims and have not plans to do more mods.
Cheers and beers.

Rubi wheel and tires go about 800 no lower than 500 keep your wheels and just platidip or bed line them.
Maybe some armor like rock sliders and a front bumper. Lift and tires duratracs are good also the nittos trail grapplers and Toyo mud tires. For lifts go with a good quality lift maybe like rock crawler, full traction or something just do some research, go with 35's and a 2.5 or 3.5 lift.
Cut your fenders bedline some stuff look for a thread called low cost cheap mods.
Oh and also go wheel your jeep first then you will find out what you need lol

All the above are great ideas. Remember to factor in labor charges if you are unable to do the work yourself. Also, there are plenty of Jeep clubs with friendly people. you may be able to persuade a few to help with a bride of pizza and beer. The craft shops on the bases have a ton of tools and personnel to help you if all else fails. JEEP ON
