There's a lot of myth and misconceptions about lights in general and headlights in particular.
The JW have a large hotspot at the center. This makes the impression of an overall brighter light, but that's not the optimal light pattern.
What we need is a light pattern that's as even as can be, and wide enough to shed light on the road sides as well.
The new JW still have the large hotspot at the center.
The TruckLite have a more even and quite wider light spread.

This is how and why a hotspot in the center misleads our perception and makes us think that one light is overall brighter than the other:

The light on the right looks brighter. It consists of 25 similar "bulbs".
The light on the left looks dimmer. In fact, it emits more light... it consists of 49 bulbs.
The one on the left sheds almost double the light on the road ahead than the one the right.

The same perception error happens when comparing JW with TL.

(The same also goes for taking pictures in front of the lights, instead of from the driver seat - which show the actual lighting result rather than the reflector glare.)

I have TruckLite headlights with the optional pulse with modulators to correct even the most minute flicker and JW speaker fog lights installed on my 10A I love it. Have had them all installed a little over a year now and have no complaints or issues at all. The combo makes for a unique look too if I don't say so myself.

I'm sticking to quadratec. I was really skeptical about theirs but they've got zero hot spots, the high beams make close road signs almost impossible to read but that's what I'm looking for. Good bright light, I know the road sign says deer crossing, I just need to see the deer first.

I just ordered the TLs. I've been looking at them forever and keep saying I'll buy them in 6 months but Northridge finally got me with the deal they have on them...screw it, it's just money right...

You can always make more. I was doing really well for my axle and regear... Then found a 20" light bar at a good price. Oh well....

Yeah I know the feeling, I keep getting so close to my PR44 but I get distracted and find something else. Hopefully I'll have it under me by TFT time though.

Northridge. Received them just a little bit ago. I am pretty sure I was first on their list to receive them. I have had the light in my garage for over a month waiting for the new harness to be released and have had an order for the new harness since. Their is still a delay, but it is about 1.25 to 1.5seconds (timed it*) instead of the 2.5-3.5 I have heard. Stock headlights had about a 1/2 second delay from turning the headlights from high to low, so I have a hard time believing they will ever be able to get rid of the delay completely.

* when I first noticed the brights stayed on for a bit I was worried I had received the old harness. Timed it multiple times with different amounts of time for the brights being on, all came out about the same roughly 1.25-1.5 sec. I'm okay with how it is, it is not perfect but I don't see it being a problem if you're paying attention.

I also don't find I need the brights or my fogs now since I adjusted there position. I think if I use the brights it will be in cases of offroad or very remote. They also produce good amount of heat for LEDs, and driving in the heavy snow storm on the mountain pass last weekend I did not get any snow build up on the lenses.

As far as a bright spot. I'm assuming you mean the point wear they over lap at the tip?

This is a pic i just took of the 8700 evo 2s, low beam pattern. I'm pulling out of work parking lot so my front wheels are 8"-12" lower than my rear wheels. I'm shining my lights onto a 5 lane wide road (2 lanes each direction and 1 center turn lane/median). Seems pretty uniform to me expect for the very top center where the lights over lap. Also love how bright the edges are; they are a wider pattern than my fogs throw.

I run the Anzo LED headlights and love them. You can get them in chrome or black which is nice.
