I went ahead and added the fan in my jk as well, following the instructions above. I had the luxury of a device that allows extra ports with on/off switches so I can turn on the fan only when needed. Let’s see how the wires and extension cord hold up in the summer, because it can get quite hot up there near the roof. I also bought a slightly different fan from amazon, pretty much identical as the one above but with ears for screws to attach to the sound bar if you wish. I can foresee the zip ties being a problem if I ever wish work done on the sound bar, or even just to lower it to install headliners.
