I've got a 2012 Rubicon Unlimited with the 17" stock wheels. I want to put some 33" tires on it. Is there a benefit to switching to a 15" wheel? More sidewall? I'll probably get new rims either way (I want all black wheels). Thanks for the opinions...

The factory wheels look awesome when painted black. But the 15 inch tires are much cheaper. You just have to decide what your budget adn wishes are.

X2... I painted my stock wheels and I love the look. It really comes down to what you like, and it is indeed cheaper if you have 15's. Tires are so damn expensive

Your OEM breaks aren't going to fit inside a 15 inch wheel - or so I've been told.

benefits to going 15 is that tires are cheaper. aside from that, i actually like less sidewall and prefer 17's

Not true. There are several very popular 15x8 and 15x10 wheels that fit JKs without modifications. Here is a list of what does and doesn't or requires modding. I run MB72 15x8 wheels with no issues and no modifications to the front or rear calipers. Fits like a glove.

Tires and wheels cost less AND weigh less for 15s.
