Default Just how bad are these lift and ESP problems?

I see folks talk about this ESP problem with there new lifts and tires, on lifts as small as 2 inch to the 4 inch ones. Are you folks resolving those issues at all? Just wondering if lifting and tires are gonna be worth it, if you have to do nothing but fight this electronic stablity program constantly.

The only thing I read that appears to help is centering the steering wheel better. Is everyone tweaking this until they get it as best they can, and is the ESP then manageable?

Any comments and help is very much appreciated.

thanks

Maybe that's the difference between the econo kit and the deluxe kit... with the deluxe you are given all the equipment to lift and dial in your ride to avoid these and other issues... or maybe I'm wrong

Appears to me it across the board in all size lifts, and manufacturers of them.

That is one thing I am wondering if the budget boost 2 to 2.5 inchers would be better way to go. Then maybe put on a 1 inch body lift (for 3 to 3.5 total), so I can run 35s. Which is basically what wayoflife was talking about. Possibly by doing this, I could stay away from the ESP and suspension alignment issues as well.

Maybe you should make this thread into a "poll".

Besides the steering wheel off center thing, it seems to me that the ESP issues would be due to wheel size increase rather than lift amount or lift style (BB+BL vs. coil lift).

Edit: Well, I just re-thought that. Since the ESP does monitor body roll, a taller lift could definitely (depending on spring rates, etc) lead to more body-roll and contribute to the ESP kicking in.

I recently installed the FT 2" BB lift and mounted 285X75X16 Tires.

I have had the ESP system kick in a few times on a very twisty mountain road (the kind a SportBike Rider drools over), but in all other driving situations it's fine.

I drive the same road often and turned the ESP system to partial off mode using the dash switch and it did not activate on the same corners it had been after the lift.

Driving with the stock tires and no lift on the same road I never had the system activate.

Personally I wanted the addtional ground clearance and aggressive tires as I spend as much time possible offroad, if I didn't though knowing what I know I would leave it stock.

Centering the wheel after is mandatory and those who haven't would no doubt have sever issues with the ESP system.

For what I wanted out of the lift and larger tires, I'm very satisfied with the ride quality and results.

As I mentioned in another post, I have the 2.5 Skyjacker lift & the Toyo M/T's in a 35. My steering wheel is perfect, but I have had the issue occur several times. Usually on exit ramps or turning into places at a decent speed and all seem to happen while applying the brake. Under normal driving conditions no issue only occurs under the conditions I mentioned. I also am curious as to possible solutions. My lift basically was 4 coils, shocks, steering stabilizer, and rear track bar bracket. Any other info appreciated.
