Just got 35's installed and looking for info from other 35 owners
ok guys now that i have 35's installed i have recently read a lot of threads about broken axles, bent gussets, ball joints etc ??? this is my daily driver so i drive 95% road and other than the occasional logging road i don't get out wheeling much.. so any advice or info would be great is there anything i should watch for? i am prepared for the power loss and the mileage loss. or did i make a bad choice? .. Thanks
Set Up:
35's (315/70/17 BFG AT T/A KO)
17x9 Cragar Soft 8
3.73 gears
6 sp manual
2" BDS Lift

If you go easy on the skinny petal when you're on tough trails you probably won't have to worry too much about broken axles. You might have some rubbing with 35's and a 2" lift. Ball joints will probably go eventually, but that can happen with stock shoes as well. I think you made a good choice. Welcome to the club!

thanks guys, it never fails you decide to upgrade then you read all the horror stories, normally i read first buy later but the deal i got on the 5 tires/ installed was so sweet i didnt want to pass it up so i jumped in with both feet, i had 35' on both my old YJ and TJ and never had any issues so i figured JK? why not then i start reading and second guessing my choice...

I have 35's and I switched to 4.88 gears a few months ago and what a huge difference. I am now planning on moving up to 37's. I did a few wheelin trips and no problems at all. Good luck and have fun!!!

You are fine with that setup and can do some great moderate wheeling with it.
About the biggest thing you will notice is that you will RARELY need 6th gear anymore, until you change your gears.

35's
Besides being the best choice in tire size IMHO, you will get envious comments from fellow Jeepers on how it looks. Congrats and enjoy...
(1 1/2 in spacers, a must... and stabilizes the highway ride)

i don't think i will be needing the 1 1/2 in spacers as my cragars have a 4.5" BS we cranked them at the shop and zero rub ... but i am looking at the c gussets plus upgrading the steering stabilizer just cant decide to go with a single or double ?? guys at the shop say a single would be good enough for my daily use..
i really appreciate the input from everyone it makes me feel better about my choice hearing from other 35" owners
i learned a long time ago if you want to do 110 on the hwy and own a jeep dont lift it lol my first jeep was 92 yj 2.4L with 2" Shackle lift / 2" Body Lift w/ 33/12.5/15 BFG KM2 lol never tried to go on the freeway again lol 80 km/h max (down hill with wind lol)
