JKU Sport spider gears going out. Recomendations?
I have a 2013 jku sport 73,500 miles.
Doing routine maintenance today I changed oil, brake pads, differential fluid and realized when I got to the rear I had metal flakes. Pulled the cover off to find the spider gears are all chipped up.
Looking to see if the dealership will say it's a warranty item or not tomorrow. But I'm lifted with 35's and not familiar with this dealership. Can't find any takeoffs local to me. (Stuttgart, Ar) I would hate to pay the stealership price to repair it. Thought about getting a locker installed if it doesn't break the bank.
What would you do?

If its covered under warranty then let them replace them. Just tell them you bought the Jeep lifted from the dealership already when you drop it off, see what they say. Do not leave there without knowing the vehicle is going to be absolutely covered under warranty. The Jeep dealership here is cool, but I know they won't cover some of my stuff with warranty.
Getting a locker when having a new set of gears will be the best route for you if you're already looking at purchasing a locker.

My plan is to have it repaired under warranty but if not I was trying to get a backup plan together. This is my only vehicle aside from my 50 pontiac at home and unfortunately I'm working 8 hrs from home.

If they went won't cover then slide your shafts out and remove the carrier. None of the insides are necessary for you to drive down the road. It prevents further damage and is cheap to do.
Make note of which shims go where and bearing orientation and you'll be fine.
