Seems like this might work.

Columbia Mfg. 30" Pet Grille Bronze

Seems like this could be cut to size in one large piece to fit the backside of all the grill slots. Then use plastic zip tie mounts with zip ties to secure it to the backside of the grille.

Has anybody tried this?

cant find the link on here, but this has been done b4 and looks nice. i'd prime it and then paint it a contrasting color. post some pics.

 

i did an exact mod a month ago. i bought this grille from lowes.

 

I ordered inserts and only received surrounds. So i bought the exact sheet your pic shows, cut out the size i needed to fit the surrounds and painted it. Bolted it on and people always ask where I ordered it. Works great and if it breaks, Lowe's has plenty.
