A comparison of the actual weight of the AEV and the Fab Fours would be interesting - anyone know?

I've been curios about the weight of the AEV. I thought someone said 55#s but I couldn't find the post again. And I wasn't sure if that was just the bumper or the bumper and the skid plate. Do you know?

Chuck
the shipping weight of the bumper was 96 lbs. I can't remember for sure what the shipping weight of the winch mount was but I think it was around 36 lbs. I haven't got the skid plate yet so I don't know what it weights.

I found at the Manufacturer page that the Fab Fours weight 140Lb (63Kg). AEV doesnt name a weight of his Bumper.

It seems like difference is mere 8 pounds between Fab Fours and AEV…

Does some know if weigh could affect performance?

Sure it can. With that much weight, the front of your Jeep can sag up to 1/2"-3/4". Add another 80-100 lbs. for a winch with steel rope and it will sag even more. If you're still sitting on a stock suspension, you'll now be sitting that much lower to the ground up front. If you have a suspension lift, you'll have just lost some of the height you paid good money to get your Jeep up higher off the ground. Of course you can add coil spacers to compensate for the extra sag but depending on how much sag you need to compensate for, you now run the risk of over compressing your coils. Last but not least, all that weight up front and up higher on your frame can and will effect the way your Jeep performs on the trail. Just think of what it would be like to go wheeling with a full grown adult standing on the front of your Jeep.

Now, this is not to say that you shouldn't go this route, just that it can and will effect performance.

As I told, I have ordered the AEV bumper with winch mount and skid plate. And I’m still sitting on a stock suspension. Eventually I will want to get the Warn Power Plant winch. I have stock Rubicon Wheels with Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ 33 X 12.5 X 17 tires and SPIDERTRAX wheel spacer 1.5.

So having this in mind; what would be a good setup for my JK?

Well for one, if you're determined to keep a Warn Power Plant in your list of future mods, you're gonna have to re-think your front bumper choice (as stated on AEV's website - "will not fit PowerPlant winches"). Or, you might want to consider a different winch. Now, if you are willing to consider another bumper, does it need to be a full width or would you be willing to entertain a stubby?

Actually I didn’t realize that they weren’t compatible. I would like to get the Warn Power Plant and also the AEV bumper but knowing that it can’t be, other options could work.

Which are your suggestions? Thanks for the advice.

Ahhh, a stubby could also work for me.

Well, if you're willing to consider a stubby, PUREJEEP, Rock Hard 4x4 parts and Shrockworks front bumpers will work with a Warn Power Plant. If you want something in between, the LoD will work and if you want something closer to a full width bumper, the Warn or even Mopar bumper will do the trick. I'm sure there might be others as well, but these are just a handful that I know of to work.
