Talking JK Tire help

OK... This is my first Jeep and i love the damn thing. anyway, I have a 08 2dr sahara.. I was thinking of going with the pro comp 7028 sitting on 295/70/17 Toyo open country m/t or the Cooper discoverer stt with a 2" ome lift. How well do you think that would work out with this jeep being my daily driver ??

That will work fine. You should get wheels that have 4.5" of backspacing. Although the tire size you listed is only 11.5" wide, you could potentially have some rubbing issues. Besides, if you get the right backspacing now, if you go to larger tires later (which a lot of people do), you will already be set up for it.

I run the Toyo Open Country M/T's now, and they are GREAT tires. They are a little pricey, but you get what you pay for.

Also, I think with that lift, you get more than 2" and you could actually run 35" tires on it.

The wheel I was looking had 4.75 of backspacing... this is all new to me, although I have learned alot from this forum.. Back in the day I used to lower the little mini trucks.

Actually, that should work. The stock wheels have 6.25" backspacing. I used to run them with 1.5" wheels spacers (with 35x12.5" tires) and had no issues. That set up would have actually given me 4.75" of backspacing.

o and as for the 7028s i have ordered them and have been waiting for more than 3 months. i am changing my wheels decision, because i have paid for them and have not received anything. just letting you know you WILL be waiting for those wheels for a VERY long time if you decide to get them.

Both great choices in Tire....run the Cooper STT on our JK and run the Toyo M/T on my Dodge CTD.

I would have gotten the Toyo M/T on our JK but with a 33.12.5R17 weighing 10#'s/tire more than the Cooper STT I went with the Cooper Tire.

I think the 295/70 would be a 12" wide tire. You should be okay for no rubbing issues lock to lock with 4.75BS with these tires. I run 4.5"BS and the 12.5" wide tire I have had zero issues with rubbing. Also, the 2" lift will be good for off-roading and flexing.
