JK Set-up Recommendations
Hey guys, new to the Forum here. Just picked up my 2007 Rubicon Unlimited on Monday. I traded an 03 Rubicon TJ on it, that was set up nice (4.5 RE lift, Warn Bumpers, tire carrier, 33" Ykohama MT's, etc). I am looking at the following set-up for now and before I order the parts wanted to get soem feedback from all of you, positive and negative:
Teraflex 2.5" BB with shock extenders (can always change the shocks out for longer ones later)
Spidertrax 1.5" wheel spacers, and run the stock 17" rims (again, I can always get less backspaced rims later)
305/70/17 Goodyear Wrangler M/T's (34X12)
As you probably guessed, I am trying to get started at a reasonable price and everything I am looking at can easily be upgraded without losing a ton of money. After the lift and tires, I would start looking at bumper upgrades, a winch, etc, but wanted to get it looking right for now and get a littler better stance for off road. Let me know what you think and I appreciate the feedback.
Take Care,
Chuck

I started thinking about it. 4 Spidertrax spacers are about $220. 5 Cragar soft 8s 17x9 (5"BS) are about $300. The spacers are almost as much as new wheels. Plus you've still got your stock Rubi wheels to sell...

Well you are right about prices, but I'm probably one of the few guy on this forum who doesn't care for the darth vader thing. The rubi wheels are very sharp. Not many factory wheels can compete. If I was to go black wheel route I would prob. go the crager soft 8 route, since they are so inexpensive. I've seen some pretty pricey black wheels & just can't see paying a premium prices for these.

PhishJeep, I hear what you are saying, but I also agree with Ge99ne. I will more than likely space the stock rims for now, then if/when I find a set of wheels I like better than the stock rims, I can always sell the stock rims and the spacers as well. Believe me, I have gone back and forth on this, but I did the same with my 03Rubi and ended up selling the stock rims and replaced with a set of American Racing Black Teflon Chambers. Don't get me wrong, I loved the Chambers, but there were occassions when I saw Rubi's with stock rims, and somewhat regretted it. I think I'll go this route for now and can always change my mind later without eating too much cash. Thanks for the input though!
