JK owners experiencing pinging with their Superchips tunes

I wouldn't trust Octane Booster to work as advertised and the most likely culprit is your fuel. Check for Ethanol content percentage and also move your next tankful to the higher octane fuel available.

I've been racking my brain to think what the difference is. As I said in an earlier post I run the 89 Tune with 87 octane gas with no pinging. (I have a 2-door, auto, 3.73 stock tires). I even pulled my loaded trailer this weekend and could barely get it to ping when I got it going up a hill at wide open throttle in 3rd gear. My original thought when this thread began was the weather was heating up and maybe it was a combination of people running left over winter blend gasoline and hot temps until the ECM got used to higher ambient temps but it's been hot everywhere and we've all had the same gas for months. Are you guys with pinging issues at high elevations? It's crazy becuase everything is so computer dependant and if we have the same engines, ECM, tuning and gas they should all respond the same way. I have several buddies around me in north Florida and nobody has had any pinging issues to date. What gives?

It seems as if there was definitely something wrong with one of the later 87 tunes where people were having issues. Myself I don't run anything but premium fuel in the summer, so by luck I avoided any issues. I also think some people are better equipped to deal with things such as this. Some people who experienced the pinging bumped their octane or tune and it went away. Others held onto running the 87 Octane tune while continuing to run 87 Octane fuel and eventually had intervention from Superchips for remedy.
There are certainly a lot of factors that can play a role in the pinging issues some have experienced, with change of seasons playing a leading role. It has also been a pretty warm summer and I'm sure there has been some very high AIT reads that has broken getting proper stoich. The PCM is definitely fickle when things get outside of what's been typical driving conditions.
Although I haven't experienced the issue, what I have done in the past to hasten PCM re-learns is a handful of freeway onramp blasts that are outside my normal driving, turning off the vehicle at stoplights to increase the number of key cycles and this has served me well in getting things straightened around although my pre-ignition issues were before I ever had a Superchips.

Engineering has stressed to me that up to this point we have only received a handful of calls on this issue all of which seemed to have been addressed. Can those still experiencing pinging in any tune please PM me with some contact info and a tuner SN. I am working with the Dodge team to help fix this issue.
Thanks!
