JK-Forum Intro Pic - Bumper Mod
I see this Jeep pop up as an intro pic when I select the JK-Forum app from my iPhone. I notice the end caps are different than any other end cap I've ever seen....not sure if it's after-market or homemade.
Does anyone know how this was done? It doesn't look like an actual cap from VDP or Rough Country and it doesn't look like they just folded over the factory plastic.

I took my sawzall and cut right against the outside of the crush can all the way through and continued through the factory skid thing (ended up just trashing it). Then got some 1/16" steel sheet and cardboard templated the other line of the bumper plastic. Traced that on the steel, cut it out with a plasma cutter a little big, ground it to final shape, held it up against the inner c and welded them on on the inside of the channel. It's a real pita to get a bigger mig gun in there but it can be done. It's a lot of feeling where the guns tip is and welding by feel and not by sight. I smashed mine on stuff all the time and they held up. Hope that helps!
Oh I also left about a 1/4" overhang on the top front and bottom of the plastic so I could take a hammer and roll it down to the same angle as the plastic cover. Made them blend in a little nicer and held the plastic bumper cap in place and in shape (when you cut the ends off you lose the plastic parts mounts). I also ran self tapping screws through the c channel into the cover for extra piece of mind.
