JK Computer issue? I need assistance...
So, I have a mystery for you guys.
Put lift and tires on probably 2 weeks before having these issues, not sure if its related or not..
Driving down the road 80mph, and I stall? I still have "acceleration power" but it won't down shift unless I'm coming to a stop or my RPMS get to low. The other crazy part of this is if I shut fry off, he'll start up with just the CEL, but not the light that comes on when the vehicle actually does the "thing". I'm attaching a picture to show the light that comes up (**not my picture, or my jeep, just to show the light).
So I decided to buy a TrailDash to be able to read codes and clear them all that good stuff and had the codes read by a performance shop in town to see what they came up with as well. I'm getting 2 codes, always those 2 and they are P0349 Camshaft Position Sensor "A" Circuit Intermittent bank 2 and P2638 Torque Management Feedback Signal A Range/Performance.
If I clear everything, it works fine for a while but as soon as I'm driving, at completely random intervals I might add, it happens. Most of the time my CEL will turn on before the other light and the second it happens the other light comes on and I think I'm going in to "limp mode". It kind of stalls out if I hit 3000RMP, so I put it in to manual so I can get around better. (I have an automatic 2012 JK Unlimited Sahara)
So I replaced the cam sensor. Figured that was the issue and it didn't fix it . Annoying to say the least.. It has no problems starting BUT it the CEL hasn't been cleared, if I turn fry on with remote start it only stays on for maybe 30 seconds, then shuts off.
I'm at a loss. I really have no idea what this could be. If any of you have any ideas I would really like to fix this myself, not necessarily for the cost aspect but I would like the know-how to be able to fix my own vehicle. If you guys have any questions on its behavior just ask. I hope I covered it well enough.
Thanks!!

So I fixed my issue, I had do idea you had 2 (technically 4 but there are 2 in one "sensor") camshaft sensors. I will attach a picture so it makes more sense but I replaced the only one I could find which was "A" my code is for "B", and it's located, (see picture, red is what I originally replaced, green is what you need to replace, bank B). If you take your hand and start at your oil cap, follow the cam all the way back and around the corner to the left and down. You will find your second cam sensor. Once I replaced this I have had zero issues. You can't see it if you just look for it so you actually have to feel for it, took me longer then I'd like to admit lol. Hope this helps man!

It actually does help, I had no idea what to look for.... Mine is sensor A bank 2? Could this also have something to do with the ESP light that came on at the same time?

And yes, both lights came on within at least a few minutes when "it" would happen, & both lights went away after I replaced it, I did clear my codes with my programmer right after I fixed it though, you can just disconnect the negative wire off your battery term if you don't have one or access to one.
Also, I recommend buying this part from Mopar direct. I just went online, easy to find. But I'm not willing to take risks with anything other then Mopar for senors and shit. Just my $0.02.
If you have any other questions I'd be happy to try and help. Just a girl trying to figure shit out.. lol

P0349 OBD II Codes
So Sensor A is going to be the one I circled in red in that picture, (My problem was I replaced the wrong one) A is really easy to find, for me (2012) it's right under my tranny dip stick. Just follow your cam towards the rear and you should find it.

Long story short, in my experience, this is a reliability problem with the PCM / sensor / cam phaser system that Chrysler needs to address with the Pentastar. These problems are being reported in a lot of Pentastar equipped vehicles (not just the Wrangler). There is a re-cal that is necessary when you install a new sensor and you need to have a bi-directional scanner to do it (i.e., dealership necessary unless you have the tool).
