Default JK Bump Stear Issues

Hello Fellow Jeepers,

I have a 09 JK with a 4 inch Tera Flex kit. I am running 35 inch tires with an after market rancho steering stablizer. I have been having issues with a very bad death wobble or bump stear while driving down the road. If I hit a bump or a pot hole the front end just moves the tires back and forth. I took it down to 4 wheel parts and they said I need to replace the front track bar at a cost of $450.00. I hate to spend the money if it won't fix the issue. If anyone has had the same problem please let me know what you did to solve the problem.

Thanks

$450 is INSANE !!! Are they doing more than just a trac bar install ?

Did you torque everything down with your JK on the ground or on a lift?

Yeah, 450.00 is too much. not sure what your problem is, is it bump steer or DW? you need to know what the problem is before spending any money trying to fix things. These are 2 very different things.

Did you have an aligment done yet, tires checked for balance, and how off is your castor ? Also, is this a new problem or one that has slowly developed ?

I would also check around for a good alignment shop and get a second opinon...

Default JK Bump Stear Issues

I am running Procomp AT tires 35 x 12.5R17, front Lower tera flex control arms, stock front upper control arms, rear upper and lower tera flex control arms, rear tera flex trac bar. 4 Wheel parts did all the work. I checked the casters and they are sitting at about 5degrees. The problem started about a week after I lifted the Jeep. Of course 4 Wheel parts could not find anything wrong with it except that it needs a "Tera Flex front trac bar".

The $450 was installing the trac bar and realignment the Jeep. I was thinking of trying a dual stearing stablizer or adjusting my casters to 7 degrees. I have been told that might work.

The problem happens at a slow speed when I hit a bump. It causes the stearing wheel to move side to side. I looked out the window today when it happened and saw the driver side tires turning out and in about 8 inches. When this happens I just slow down until it stops. I need to get this issue fix because it's my wifes Jeep and I would hate for this to happen to her while she is driving.
