So this air tank hangs exposed on the underside of the vehicle? What protects it from getting smashed while rock crawling?

No it actually hangs as low as the fuel tank. It's located next to the drive shaft right under the drivers seat I'll get some better pictures for you

What's the output and duty cycle on the compressor? I'd consider moving your quick fitting as well, that's an easy spot for obstacles to find.

Okay that makes way more sense now. I'd like to see a direct picture from underneath though showing the distance between it and the driveshaft relative to it and the gas tank. I only ask because I have some friends that rub their driveshaft pinion flange on the gas tank at full droop on the passenger rear. Wondering if there ends up being any clearance issues between the driveshaft and the box around that air tank during droop to the driver side. Just a thought.

if you look at the 4th picture on the original post it shows a straight up shot on the driveshaft. i had this same concern and so did kleinn. they actually modified it from the original design to give more clearence for the driveshaft. ive had it on my jku for about a month and have had it offroad last weekend quite a bit and had no problems with any rubbing issues.
