Jeep shakes like crazy for no reason
Ok. I am not home, I am in Iraq, so I can't confirm what is going on. But I wanted to get some thoughts, if you don't mind.
I have a 2.5" TF coil lift on my Jeep. I drove it for 3-4 months, and never noticed any Death Wobble or anything. Maybe one time I hit a bump and thought I got a little shake, but that was about it.
I just talked to my wife and she said she was driving the Jeep a couple weeks ago, and out of the blue the whole vehicle started to violently shake. She had to slow down and come to a stop at the side of the road. She walked around the Jeep to see if a tire blew, or see what else could be wrong. She didn't see anything and when she started driving again, everything was normal. Just a few days ago, it happened again when she was getting off the interstate. She says she turned off the cruise control, and started to exit the interstate, and it started shaking. She said it felt as if all the wheels were trying to go in different directions. She had to carefully work the brakes to slow it down until it stopped.
I asked her if she hit any small bumps or anything. She told me that both times it happened that she is sure she didn't hit any small bumps or anything.
I myself am thinking she must have hit a bump each time that she didn't notice, and she must be getting Death Wobble, even though I have not experienced it on the same roads. But, has anyone heard of this happening for no reason? Could it be something else?
She is going to call one of our friends who is really good with Jeeps and has lot's of experience. He helped install the lift. If he can't figure anything out, I told her to take it to the dealership.

what bigbluejk said - sound like something is loose, worn out or in the process of failing. more than likely, you just have a track bar with loose bolts. it is not uncommon for them to loosen up over time and wheeling your jeep.

Thanks, guys. I really appreciate it. I kind of figured that it may be what you said, but just wondered if anyone knew of something else.
The frustrating thing is that I am not there and I can't troubleshoot it, or fix it. I don't know how soon anyone can look at my Jeep. I am at the whim of my wife and her schedule. And my friend is pretty busy, too. Perhaps he will find some time real soon to take a look when he hears that it is Death Wobble.
Can't promise how soon it will get looked at, but I do promise I will keep you updated as it gets looked at. Thanks for your help.

Yeah, I really do apologize for starting another thread on it, and asking the question again, so that you have to repeat yourselves again. Please forgive me.
I have read all of these a million times. If I was the one to experience it, then I could probably troubleshoot it. Unfortunately, I feel a little helpless because I am not home, and can only listen to what my wife tells me. "no, I didn't hit a bump at all, I am sure of it....it just did it for no reason....the Jeep started to shake apart for no reason, and parts flew off in every direction until I was left holding nothing but a steering wheel, sitting on a seat in the middle of the road with no Jeep around me." Anyway, if I were home, I would have a better feel of troubleshooting it. I just wanted to get a sanity check on it.

you can read this stuff a ton, even help your buddies tune it out of their rig... but when it happens to yours or the jeep your woman drives... it kinda makes you want to get all the info you can. I have had many lifted jeeps before and been lucky to never have the DW till this one. Mine was a loose bolt on my left front upper control arm at the axle. Amazing what one little bolt can do.
I am usually really good about putting a wrench on my Jam nuts and arm bolts when I change the oil. Guess I got lazy. I bet your jeeps problem is something simple. Get your friend to go check everything with a wrench. Have him make sure the trackbar bracket holes have not become oblong also.
