Default Drive Shafts

This is all helpful other than the non-sense on who is better.

I didn't see an answer to two questions which would help me.

1. Is the u-joint DS relatively straight forward to install?

2. Do these things need to be balanced somehow once installed or are they just bolt in?

tnx

Also with a 3.5 4 " lift do you need custom lengths?

1. They are pretty simple. You unbolt your factory driveshaft, remove the pinion nuts and yokes, then bolt on the new parts.

2. They are balanced when they are built, and can't be balanced again on the Jeep. The only reason one would need to be re-balanced is if you slightly bent one. Otherwise, they're balanced for life.

The manufacturers may have you measure your Flange to flange distance, but there's not that much of a need for a custom length unless you're using a long-arm system. The stock lengths will work for up to 4" of lift.

Ok,

Thanks for more info.

I'm pulling the trigger on the 1350HD's (while my wife isn't looking!). Figure I'll go large and then not have issues later (I hope).

Any last words of wisdom?

Thanks for the replys, I figured it was a pretty straight forward bolt in application, I have taken stock shafts off of my yj and put them back on but I haven't replaced them yet so I wasn't sure about any balancing issues. I ordered the 1310 HD shaft to be on the safe side plus 4WD had a 10% off sale so I got it for the same price as the OE replacements.

Your stock lines are CV. All the JE Reel lines (for the JK) are a U-Joint type. They are actually a Double Cardan style of Drive line.
