Default Jam nuts?

Is it necessary to lock tight jam nuts on control arms? I have read that alot of people apply anti seize to the threaded portion of the joint that goes into the control arm itself. while others forgo the anti seize altogether and apply red loctite to the jam nut after setting the contorl arms to the appropriate length? What's the proper way?
