jack points??
i have a sahara and put a 3" lift and 35" tires on it. i purchased a hi-lift jack and need to know what jack points i should use. tried the side step and it just bends up and rubs the body. the plastic on the bumper doesn't allow the jack to come in contact with the frame rails without bending either. any tips would greatly help. thanks

Save some$$ and spend some $$
If you plan on going on trails where a hi-lift is needed you should maybe think of beefing up your bumpers and maybe some rock rails. Not giving you a hard time just speaking from experience.

This may work, depending on your wheels.....

That way you can lift it up, and id carry a small jackstand around to throw under your axle once the tires off the ground. This would be good till you get some bumpers and sliders that you can use as a jacking point.

I was wondering the same thing. No aftermarket bumpers yet and no rails. Soon enough, but not in time for some easier trails in Colorado in a few weeks. Still wouldn't trust the stock jack to elevate high enough if I needed it. I was thinking about using the tow hooks to lift with (and a strap/chain). Would they be strong enough?

I'm in the same boat as you - 35's 3" lift, and hi-lift jack. Here's what I've done.
Had a flat in Utah (back tire), hooked the hi-lift to the rear tow hook to lift the entire back --This was VERY UNSTABLE and I WOULD NOT DO THIS AGAIN unless there's no other options. Two days later, thought I had bent a rim on a front tire (shock actually blew but I didn't know this at the time). Your right, there's no place to put the hi-lift on the front. I ended using a flat rock about 8" thick, and the original jack that came with the jeep. Jacking it up from the original jack points.
Now we keep 2X6's (6) of them cut 12" long. Stack them up, and use the original jack. It's a hillbilly thing I guess. Heck it works, and it's stable. I'm all for stable. I'll be getting the bumpers soon so this is a temporary fix.

Shoot, I guess I can take the hilift off the list of things I'm ordering for my '08 Sahara. That tow hook idea sounded like a good one but I guess it's not. What about sliding the tow hitch in and jacking up under that? My use is mainly in the sand where if I got stuck I figured I could jack it up and push sand back under the tires. Would the tow hooks not be ok for that? Do Saharas have a front tow hook? I'm not too worried about it being unstable as if it falls to the side then it might fall out of the hole it was in.
