I've done some tire/wheel research.. With that being said, will this work?

Default I've done some tire/wheel research.. With that being said, will this work?

Hello fellow Jeepers,

Just for the record: I am a complete newb at the forum stuff but I'm trying really hard. I've googled endless forums to find the information I'm looking for, and finally decided to join "Jk-Forums" since most of the people here seem to really know what they're talking about! I've read all the FAQ questions, and I've even searched through several threads to find what I'm looking for but I havn't nailed it perfectly yet!

I just bought a Brand New 2012 6spd JK Unlimited Sport (Gecko Green)

I'm on a low budget for the time being. I want to upgrade a few things, but not too crazy since it may become my daily driver. What I would like to do is run 33's, No lift(Teraflex Level Kit Pucks 'MAYBE'), No Backspacers, and hopefully grab some XD Addict 17x9's with 4.53" of backspacing or something similar. According to FAQ 32x10.5 is what the factory recommends but some people have gotten away with 33x10.5 with very little rubbing issues. In fact, I talked with "flatattack" who says he's running 305/65r17 Mickey Thompsons = 33x12.5's which he uses for occasional off-roading with a little bit of fender rubbing on the trails. If I could go with 12.5's and not have any bolt/sway bar/or anything else rubbing but the the fenders occasionally I'd be perfectly happy with the set up. With that being said, is there anyone with experience in this set up or is anyone currently running this set up. If you can post pictures I would appreciate it alot!

Just a quick synopsis:

33's/ 285 or 295 tires,
10.5 or 12.5's
17x9 Rim/Wheels with 4.53 backspacing or similar,
No Lift (Teraflex Leveling Kit if I absolutely have to)
No Backspacers (Just personal preference)
No Rubbing (Slight fender rubbing is ok)

I understand there may not be anyone with this set-up, but if you have any opinions or experience please lemme know!

I would go with a 285/70/17 with the Addict wheels and put 3/4 inch spacer in the front only. Should not have any rubbing with this setup. The spacers are cheap and easy to install yourself.

Wow, my first reply! It feels like that moment when I started up the engine to my new Jeep, I'm excited!!

-Do you think if I ran those tires w/out the spacers would I have any rubbing at full turn? Thanks

I run basically a 33x12 with no lift or spacers and I believe my back spacing on the wheels is 4.5 and I have no rubbing except fenders off road

That's exactly what I'm looking to hear. Thanks! What tires are you running if you don't mind me asking?

You will need a new wheel with backspacing to avoid any rub with this tire size on a stock (non-rubicon) rig. Remove the air dam too. No real reason for the damn thing anyway.

And 1/2 to 3/4 inch leveling spacers will help avoid any rub and eliminate the front rake which makes your jeep look better....IMO

Alright, I'm guessing the addicts will be ok at 4.53" of backspace. That's probably what I'll go with then. I'll look into the air dam.. lemme grab my axe, lol

Yeah I'll probably atleast throw on the Teraflex leveling kit if I have any issues with just the tires and wheels. For $130 and easy install why not. Eventually I may upgrade if gas doesn't kill me
