Invalid skim key
Have had the ! Light on my dash for two weeks. Turns out to be invalid skim key.
I put fresh batteries in both key fobs
Disconnected pos terminal for 1hr
Tried to clear code with superchips
All to no avail.
I have searched the forum and can't find the answer. My last resort is the Stealership
Lil background
2009 jku
Aftermarket alarm system ( could this be the problem? Maybe a dead backup battery ?? )
I'm at a loss for words.
Any help is very much appreciated.
Thanks

Has no one else had a similar issue. I'm gonna return to stock tune and take it in for an oil change next month. Ask them to reflash computer. Or maybe just play dumb and ask them why this light is on. Maybe it's a key fob issue or the transponder in the steering column
I have searched everywhere with no luck to figure out how to solve this

I would be willing to bet its the aftermarket remote start. They usually have a way of bypassing the skim for remote starting. The computer has probably picked up on an error and is still allowing the Jeep to start, if you do manage to clear the code and it still has an issue it may not restart. I would see how they tied into the system and possibly remove it and see if that fixes it first.
If you take it to the stealership they will blame it on the remote start anyway and charge you crazy money to remove it.
