How about some insulation and perhaps the same material that is on the seats or the headrest.

Maybe some black type of suede.

Check this link out. i found it on a MB G500, the JK's cousin.

Some suede fabric on the roof ceiling.

You could even incorporate monitors and stuff for your kids. A bit overkill for a jeep, but really cool.

the insulation is from pep boys , the carpet is from wally world , but I think it will get changed to marine carpet from h.d./ lowes . All attached with spray adhesive. Did this when I had a CJ in '85...used trailer carpeting that had padding already attached . this helps quiet the whole vehicle but especially the top during rains. the carpet I am using is gray so it will take the glare off the white roof but not be too dark as in black. Each to their own but this is my daily driver and I am making my JK as plush as I can :toung:

Next will be something on the center armrest ...I saw someone had done it in leather, and I may try to do that as well

That looks like it turned out pretty good mslc. I imagine that you took the panels off to put the carpet on.

I'm surprised that nobody has a kit to do something like this...kindof like a carpet applique foor the top. I'm continueing to do it myself but some pre-cut material and insulation shouldnt be that hard and i would think that there would definitely be a market for it especially in the colder climates

I wonder if there would be any significant advantages to applying some dynamat like material before the carpet.

I think the padding will deaden any sound and it takes the "hollow" sound of the top away....the mat is usually for metal but can always be tried ,my guess is it won't be as effective on fiberglass as on metal.

I would have the inside taped off and line-X before I'd spend 200 dollars for some velcro'd insulation stuck to the roof. I'm sure that would flap and un attach when the windows are down.
