I'll post some pics up and maybe do a write-up once everything goes in, but I've got a couple questions before I get started.
I got a deal on a lightly used D44 with factory locker. Had it regeared to 5.13 while it was still in the shop. Install will be next week.
Installation - should be a straight bolt-in mechanically
Wiring: (I've gotten the pigtails from the donor vehicle - he apparently installed a RJ60 with an ARB air locker, so didn't have any problems cutting the tails off the factory harness for me)
Plunger - two wires - electrically I understand is a straight on/off switch
Locker - two wires - apply 12v to it, and it locks. One black (ground) and one yellow/orange (12v)
Now, I've got all the understanding I need to wire the locker up to a relay, and get it switched on. My knowledge gap is on the daystar switch - how it lights up in particular.
What I want do to is have that light controlled by the plunger switch in the axle, instead of just turning on when I flip the switch on. Actually using the lighted switch as an indicator that the locker is engaged instead of simply that power is being applied to it.
Can I do this? It's a 3 pin switch from Daystar (technically a Carling V1DA 20A 12V). From the 'top-down' there's a pin 7, 2 and 3 (8, 5 and 6 are numbered but have no pins) Appreciate any help from the local geniuses.
Is it as simple as T-ing off the 12v being sent to the locker, and sending it through the plunger and back to one of the terminals on the switch?
8 7
2 5
3 6
edit - from reading another post, the switch looks like I should wire the following:
2 - 12V in
3 - 12V out to the relay (or direct to the locker)
7 - is the ground for lamp, so if I run 12V to the plunger, and run the ground back to pin 7, then the light should come on when the locker is engaged?

Primary question is how to wire the switch so it lights off the plunger.

If the "plunger" you speak of is a dry contact or just a switch, you can just run the ground from the daystar panel switch through the locker switch then to ground. when it locks and closes the switch it will complete the circuit.
