Default Installing a RK 3.5 lift this weekend. Is the ProCal necesarry?

It's the 3.5 kit on a 2012 auto Rubicon (2-door).

Thanks
Steve

I dont think it is necessary. I have the 3.5 kit on my 2011 4 door, granted I have a manual. I believe the ProCal is only "Necessary" if you regear in a 2012 so you don't go into Limp Mode.

For you and an Auto the ProCal would help with your shift points though IIRC.

No re-gear for now, mine came with the 4:10 gears and I'm only going up to a 35" tire. I'm about the stability control and alignment of the wheel?

Alignment of the steering wheel is easy, only takes a 15MM wrench and a few minutes. I would not spend the $$$ on the procal just to get this feature. WOL has a write-up on on Project-JK.

You don't need a ProCal for a lift.

However, when you go to bigger tires you'll want one to recalibrate your speedo. Also, for my money, it's one of the best buys you can make for your rig if you're going to wheel a lot, use a winch, etc.

But I wouldn't buy one till you actually need it.

Agree with kwolf. I've had my jeep on 315 for quite some time, and I would get it for the speedo calibration, but I've just gotten accustomed to knowing the actual speed is 5mph faster than the speedo.

Default Procal for a 3.5" Lift

Programing with the Procal not necessary for just a lift; however if you add 35" tires and or regear, you will need a Procal or other programming device to get your speedo back in sync.....

Procal will also re-program shift point in your auto transmission for the larger tires and/or different gears. For $150, it does a lot of stuff and to me is a no-brainer (eventhough I hate the term "no-brainer").

Although the way you used "no-brainer" was apt.

I hate the word "apt."

How does it actually work? I know it plugs into the vehicles diag port correct? Then how do you manipulate the settings? Is there any chance of screwing up your vehicle or is it fairly idiot proof? Thanks...
