Default Installing my AEV bumper this weekend...any tips?

The title pretty much says it all. Does anyone have any pointers or is it as straight forward as the directions say? Can I do it by myself or will I need to get the wife involved

Thanks

Invite a friend over we use two guys at the shop to do them. Not tricky but they are bulky and it is nice to have two guys.

- Invite your wife and perhaps an additional friend or two.
- Cut the crush cans exactly as diagramed, it will not go together properly unless you do.
- Give yourself plenty of time; it took me 6 hours to complete.

You can do it by yourself, but it's definitely not ideal when getting the skin of the bumper onto everything and mounted up. Purchasing a 12 pack and some pizza will save you a lot of time and aggravation of trying to get everything lined up on your own.

A 12 pack and a lousy pizza? I'm never helping you put a bumper on.

Finnster, have the grill and steaks ready to go and your helpers will be a lot more motivated and do a much better job. lol

Quiet you! All you have to do is stand there and hold the skin, which isn't even that heavy. Your lucky I didn't make it a sixer of Busch Light. lol Now if you want to crawl under and do all the bolting up, I'd fire up the grill and get some real beer. lol

Best tips I have from mine is to take your time, and have a drill ready. Also if I were to do it again I would probably loosely install the four bolts on the outsides of the frame rails, and then the others prior to doing the bolts on the inside of the frame rail / winch plate and then tighten all of it down. This should make it easier to keep it all lined up.

Have at least one other person to help you. I had a problem with the mounting holes lining up and had to use a reamer to enlarge the holes. As CT Rubi said get the crush cans right the first time!
