Default installed stock stubby end caps and Hella Black Magics without light bar

I'm saving up for my lift but i had the itch to do some easy cosmetic changes to my 2012 JKU. I just installed some stubby end caps which were super easy to instal(start to finish took 25 minutes) which i think make the stock bumper look much nicer. I also had some Hella Black Magics from a previous truck that were collecting dust in the garage. I didn't want to use a light bar and decided to mount them directly to the stock bumper. I'm not sure why more people don't mount their lights like this. The instal was real easy and they are super solid. I like the clean look too!

You're right. It is a clean look. You did a good job at tucking the wires? What did you do just drill a hole and stick them on? Any thing special?

I located where I wanted the lights to go and felt under the bumper to make sure I had the clearance. Then I just drilled straight through. I had to wedge some 2" diameter X 1/8" thick solid plastic fender washers between the plastic bumper and the metal frame piece so that when I cranked down the bolt it wouldn't pull down on the plastic. This made for a solid mounting point and a clean look without the use of brackets or a light bar. I picked up a Hella wiring harness and routed the wires through two small holes i drilled in the plastic shield between the bumper and the grill which made it look like a factory finish.

Yeah, i'm not expecting these to take much abuse. But they are cheap and make a big difference in the looks department. They will do until I get the $$ for a real bumper (i.e: AEV, OR-Fab, Expedition 1)

Are they the plastic caps or the metal ones? I could see the plastic not holding up but the metal ones should be more durable? I've seen both available.

Default Looks Good Now Cut Those Fenders

Now you just have to get the nerve to cut those fenders. I left them on, taped my shape and lightly scored with a razor blade until I got a good grove then pressed harder until it cut through. Looks awesome for free.....

Do you mean the silver center bumper cover the lights are mounted on? If so, they are plastic. That's why I stiffened them up with the plastic fender washers underneath. The lights are as solid as if I mounted them to any light bar. They don't move at all.

I think he was referring to the bumper caps.
