I did the same thing - took me a while to figure it out. I was able to put it in the wrong way which made it even more confusing.

i had same problem... the wires the went into the plug for the controller were loose and eventually fell out.. reattached the wires into the plug, snugged em down, plugged controller into soleinoid and it works..
