Install price gears and gussets
So I priced install of g and g yesterday. Is this reasonable?
4.88 gears plus c-gussets (with ball joint removal/replace)
3 year/36,000 warranty
$2500.

Gears are rated at a 10 hour job.
Ball joints are rated at about a 5 hour job.
Good mechanics can do the gears in about 8 hours and the ball joints in about 3-3.5 hours.
Welding on the gussets might take an extra 1.5-2 hours.
You can buy Synergy ball joints for $200 shipped for the set of 4.
You can buy gears and overhaul kits (master install kits that include bearings) for $550 shipped.

Occasionally you hear of $1000 gear packages. Usually without master rebuild kit, which you should do. So call it $1300 for gears. While it is recommended to pull BJs while welding gussets, it isn't necessary if weldor takes his time and uses wet rags to cool BJs. Weldors around here charge $75/hour. So call it $125-150 for his labor. If you decide to pull BJs, by all means install the Synergy's, not OEM.
