At least RC is aware of the issue and is in the process of engineering some new coils.
lmao... I was hoping I didn't really read that! So many options available for these new jeeps. You can run any size tire you want and still have a great ride. Why would you want it to ride like crap? I don't understand???

the progressive coils r made for better comfort. not so much the beating on. but... ill check out this tera flex kit. do you have a link? plus.. you always have a few rough rides untill u find that perfect one that u wanna stick with for a while till it wears out then you have to buy another. but then again... a rough ride isnt that bad once in a while. True statement.

But since you missed the 'search' button while doing your homework, here is what is actually going on...

According to your chart, the factory set-up is wrong (at the bottom of the minimal gearing column). My stock 255/75-17 measure 32" and come with 3.73's. According to the chart, I (we) should be running 4.88's with a stock Jeep?

What then, is the recommendation for auto running 33" now and possibly 35" in the future in the midwest (read mostly flat roads) and 98% on road use?

My stock 255/70-17 measure 32"
The 'manufacturers' specs list it at 32", but what is the 'actual' tire height on your vehicle? (the majority of tires out there are considerably shorter on the vehicle than the specs tell us they are) Use the real height when comparing rpm's.
-for me personally, the mfg lists my tires at 33.27". Using the 'actual' measured height on my JK of 32", I am within 6rpm of what the chart shows.

Yes, they are under-geared/under-powered from the factory. (Specifically the auto's) It is open to debate, of course, but they are.

Another question would be - if 4.56 or 4.88 were factory options, and people actually knew about the current power and gearing situation to make an informed decision, how many would actually choose 3.21 or 3.73?

On a homemade ramp with the sway bar disconnected I got about 31" of flex in the front. See avitar if you want a pic.

I have the unlimited with superchip programmer, 17 inch kmc addicts, 2.5 inch rough country budget lift, and 35 nitto mudd grapplers. I drive it alot in the city and on the interstate. No its nothing like stock tires, but is not that bad. I drove to Biloxi this weekend doing 80 mph on interstate with overdrive on. It does not down shift as much as you would think. I got 15mpg. Normal driving I get around 15-16. Before the tires I got 18-19mpg.
